On the move. Ready or not ... here we come Turkey.

Here are some pics of our last night in Pythagorio.
The harbor promenade with restaurants on one side and moored boats on the other side with hungry tourists between.

Pomegranate spotted as we walked to the restaurant

Vicky is up early in anticipation of the day in transit.  There's some repacking to do.  How is it that in spite of the fact that we haven't bought anything of consequence, our luggage weighs more than when we arrive.  I know I weigh more, but apparently my clothes do too.  Gads.

The day begins quietly and even "Tippie", the hotel cat, comes for a morning visit on the terrace.  A few last snapshots of the hotel.

The path down to the beach

The terrace of our hotel room
The steps from our room to the lobby.  The stuff of dreams.
We thank our hosts and the staff who have made our stay a most enjoyable one and bid good-bye to our "neighbors" ... fellow travelers with whom we have exchange pleasantries through the week.

Before long we are at the airport and boarding the 55 minute to Athens.  We fly over several of the 227 Inhabited Greek Islands ... Actually, there are about 1400 Islands, most of which are not inhabited and another 4600 Islets.  O.K., some of those are probably just big rocks, but that's what an island is I suppose.   We pass many of those that we have had the pleasure of visiting on previous trips:  Andros, Tynos, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, Patmos, are some.  How fortunate we have been to enjoy these places.  All are characteristically Greek, but each has its own uniqueness.  Like a box of chocolates!

Lots of time to spare at the Athens Airport as we have almost 6 hours before our flight to Istanbul.  Time to update the blog!

Now the guides and background information for our tour of Turkey replace the Greek library now safely tucked in our suitcases.   Tales of the exotic, the Trojan war, the beautiful Helen, Achilles.  Fairy chimneys, exotic mineral springs.  History from the Bronze age through to the modern era.  Lots to learn, so stay tuned!

We have instructions upon landing in Instanbul (not Constantinople, if you know that old song ... lol) where we will be met by our guide and taken to the hotel.
