ahhhhhh Samos

Made it!  We made it to the hotel around 5PM local time ... almost exactly 24 hours between our door in Beaumont and the hotel Glicorisa on Samos Island.

The hotel is as lovely as advertised.  The rooms are spartan (yeah yeah, pardon the geographic pun) as expected.  Simple, spare, sufficient and impeccably clean.  Very nice!  The Greeks don't spend a lot of effort on their plumbing so the bathroom is ... minimal yet adequate.  We didn't come to be in the room though, and the view is lovely as the hotel sits comfortably in a protected cove.

Our biological clocks are a little shell shocked so we clean up quickly and scramble down through a pergola covered in grapevines, past the pool to the beach.  Vicky, not being one for pretense or hesitation, dipped her toes (and ankles too) into the cool Mediterranean water.  Frrrrresh!  The Mediterranean waters are much cooler than the Caribbean and it takes some getting used to.  Bruce snaps some quick pics and it's off to the restaurant for dinner.
You can see Turkey in the distance past the point (more on this in the next post)

Our first peek at the beach

Dinner by the beach ... yes we have arrived!!!

Once back to the room after dinner, it didn't take us long before we sunk into a deep sleep for the night.
